Dorian Nakamoto has denied any involvement in the development of Bitcoin.
In a video shared by @CryptoNewsYesDorian Nakamoto clarified that he had nothing to do with building Bitcoin (BTC) – stating that he was “just an engineer doing something else”.
“The main reason I’m here is to clear my name; that I have nothing to do with bitcoin, nothing to do with development.
Additionally, he revealed that when Bitcoin’s development began in 2001, he worked as a government contractor – he did not specify what that role was.
When presented with copies of messages – presumably from the Bitcointalk.org forum in which Satoshi Nakamoto communicated development progress – Dorian Nakamoto said, “I have never communicated with Bitcoins” – adding that in 2010, when the messages dated, “I was home.”
The mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto
The identity of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto is shrouded in mystery.
The bitcoin community has come up with several likely candidates, including the late Hal Finney – a cryptographer who was heavily involved in the development of bitcoin. Finney was the first recipient of a BTC transfer, and some believe he sent those first Bitcoins to himself.
Programmer Nick Szabo is another popular choice. Szabo had previously developed a decentralized, proof-of-work virtual currency called “piece of gold”, publishing his article in 1998 – more than a decade before the deployment of Bitcoin.
More recently, with the discovery of the Bitcoin whitepaper embedded in every Mac operating system from Catalina onwards, there has been new speculation linking Steve Jobs to Satoshi Nakamoto.
However, the individual or group that created Bitcoin is widely considered to be technically proficient in coding and cryptography – which Jobs was not.
Co-founder of Apple Steven Wozniak said Jobs had never coded but was proficient enough to “modify, change, and add other designs” on occasion. Wozniak describes Jobs more as a visionary.
“Steve has never coded. He wasn’t an engineer and he didn’t do any original design.
Dorian Nakamoto
Public information about Dorian Nakamoto described him as a Japanese-American physicist who had adopted libertarian views after being repeatedly fired.
Since he was “unmasked” by Newsweek in 2014, Dorian always denied being Satoshi Nakamoto – saying the connection caused him and his family frequent stress.
“I did not create, invent or work on Bitcoin. I unconditionally deny the Newsweek report.
Coincidentally, at one time Dorian lived near Finney in Temple City, California.
