Yuga Labs co-founder responds to return rumors amid ongoing health break

Non-fungible token (NFT) entrepreneur Wylie Aronow has confirmed that he is not ready to return to Yuga Labs, the NFT company he co-founded, despite making “steady progress” in his health.

“I am not ready to return to work, even part-time. I have to make sure I’m there for a long time, for those who need me,” Aronow said on December 11 to address rumors of a potential return.

“What I mean is that even though my health is progressing steadily, there are still some pretty crazy fluctuations, and it’s a marathon for me.”

Aronow explained that some days he’s ready to jump in “the deep end,” while other days he feels the need to be “in a wheelchair” to get to the emergency room.

Aronow, also known as Gordon Goner, took a leave of absence in late January following a diagnosis of congestive heart failure. In the same announcement, Wylie dismissed rumors that Yuga Labs used neo-Nazi and racist imagery, calling them “lies.”

At the time, he said he would continue to serve on the board of directors and strategic advisor to Yuga Labs.

Despite taking a step back, Aronow said he was lucky to overlook the operations of Yuga Labs – the team is behind NFT projects Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks – and suggest changes if necessary.

“I identified the main issues that were holding us back, and since the last board meeting two days ago, I feel like I have addressed those issues unequivocally,” he said. explain.

That said, Aronow supports current management in what could be a breakthrough year for the company in 2024:

“I left this meeting with a feeling of newfound confidence in our leaders and in all Yuga brands. They know the pressure is on for 2024, and I think they will impress you.

Aronow previously explained that he was reluctant to step back, but that his condition deteriorated so quickly that he had no choice but to prioritize his work.

“I have exceeded my limits. I worked 12 hours a day, almost every day. I should have taken the advice of everyone around me and sought balance.
