StoneX Digital LLC, the digital assets unit of StoneX Group (Nasdaq: SNEX) launched last year, has onboarded Matthew Ardizzone as Managing Director of Digital Assets. Announced on Tuesday evening, he is based in New York and reports to the chief operating officer of the digital assets division, Brian Mulcahy.
StoneX Group launched StoneX Digital last June to bolster its offerings in the digital asset market. It provides digital asset trading tools and market access to institutional clients.
“StoneX’s broad product portfolio and geographic reach positions us well to provide a comprehensive offering of digital asset solutions to financial institutions as the market increasingly looks to well-established and regulated entities for their needs.” , said Ardizzone.

30 years of experience at the service of StoneX Digital
Ardizzone’s appointment is strategic because he has thirty years of experience in the financial services sector. He joined StoneX Digital after ATOMYZE, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer for about two years. Previously, he was Global Head of Foreign Exchange and OTC Metals Sales at RJ O’Brien & Associates for approximately five years.
As seen on his Linkedin profile, Ardizzone started his career in 1993 as a forex trader and later joined Schroders as an assistant fund manager. During his three-decade career, he also worked at Prudential Financial as Global Head of Currency Sales, Jefferies again as Global Head of Currency Sales, and Nomura as Executive Director.
Commenting on the appointment, Mulcahy said: “Matthew brings strong institutional markets expertise to StoneX with a track record of growth and client value. This is another step towards StoneX becoming a leading solution provider in digital assets and complements the growth of many established StoneX. companies.”
The larger StoneX has also bolstered its team with hires and promotions. Earlier this month, he added Edward Phelps, formerly of SWIFT, as head of business strategy. He also promoted Rana Khatlan to EMEA Marketing and Events Manager and Adam Dance to Product Director.
Meanwhile, the US National Futures Association recently fined StoneX Markets, one of StoneX Group’s subsidiaries, $1 million for multiple compliance violation charges. The company also agreed to a settlement by paying the fine.
