Banksy spy booth will be released as NFTs
According to a press release shared with U.Today, Raiinmaker has announced a collaboration with Cosmic Wire, a go-to platform for creating multimedia content.
Within this collaboration, the two companies will release six exclusive non-fungible tokens. The tokens will commemorate Spy Booth, a famous mural by prominent street artist Banksy.
This mural depicts spies from the 1950s; It was first shown in 2014 near the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), a British secret security service.
It was destroyed two hours later, but fragments of the mural were found and are now surviving.
Cosmic Wire CEO Jerad Finck stressed that this release will be crucial to the digital art sector as it restores iconic artwork and allows it to be remembered for longer:
We at Cosmic are really excited to reintroduce the world with this wonderful piece and preserve it indefinitely for future generations to enjoy. These leftovers are all that’s left of the work, and now time will be shrunk forever in the blockchain.
Blockchain to support three climate change charities
One hundred percent of the property flows from the sale of the NFT will be distributed among three charities trying to combat climate change.
Besides royalties, Laudato Tree, the Coalition for Rainforest Nations (CfRN) and US Forests will receive $100,000 in total from Raiinmaker and Cosmic Wire.
Raiinmaker founder JD Seraphine stresses the importance of this philanthropic work:
Right now, it is critical that we all step up and do our part to help turn the tide at this important moment with climate change. We are honored to support all of the important work of CfRN, Laudato Tree, and US Forests.
As covered by U.Today today, more and more NFT heavyweights are launching Banksy-inspired NFTs for charity.
In the second quarter of 2021, Valuart announced similar initiatives.
