The market continues its downtrend even today as BTC trades below $42.5,000 down 1.5%. Alts leader ETH slipped below $3,000 down 3%. All other currencies on the chart follow the market trend as they fall even further.
As the nascent crypto sector gains momentum, Shark Tank investor Kevin O’Leary has announced that he will be investing in metaverse altcoins.
In a new interview with Kitco News, the famous investor claims that the metaverse will be built on Ethereum (ETH), Polygon (MATIC), Hedera (HBAR), and Helium (HNT).
“If you’re willing to buy a Facebook, a Google or a Microsoft, it’s just software. And the metaverse is just software, so I’m starting to take positions in some of these big platforms where the metaverse is going to live like in Polygon and HBAR and Ethereum.
He says Bitcoin is just software. It’s not a coin, and questions why don’t you invest in Ethereum if you’re willing to invest in mainstream software as service companies like Microsoft Why don’t you invest money in Polygon, HBAR, Helium and all these other platforms
“I have a lot of different software platforms, and I don’t know which ones will be successful, but the diversity is good.” he added.
According to O’Leary, the metaverse has the potential to revolutionize the way products and businesses are promoted.
He says if you believe that in the next three to five years when things continue to evolve online, especially experiential advertising, you’ll find it in the metaverse, where it’ll show up in games first, and so we’ll see a lot of games, and esports will be a big part of that.
He explains that the metaverse is split into two directions: an ungoverned, unorganized metaverse where, if you’re a big corporation like Procter & Gamble, you may find yourself sitting in the metaverse next to a porn store. It won’t happen in Facebook’s metaverse, where they’ll handle it. It may have longer term value because if I’m putting up a brand that means something to me, I don’t want to put it next to a liquor store or a pornography store or whatever which is not regulated on the metaverse.
