Communications protocol Helium Network has set March 27 as the date for its migration to the Solana blockchain and deployment of oracles, seeking to improve scalability and reliability.
According According to a February 17 blog post, a 24-hour transition period will take place on March 27, during which the current Helium blockchain will be discontinued. Proof of coverage and data transfer activities will not be affected. A working group of community volunteers is being formed to oversee the migration process. The Helium team said:
“This upgrade will encompass all Helium network wallets, access points and status, and will occur over a 24-hour transition period beginning at approximately 1500 UTC / 10:00 AM ET.”

After the chain stops, validators will stop producing blocks and transactions will not be synchronized. A final blockchain snapshot will be taken after all accounts and tokens are migrated to the Solana blockchain, and access points will be created as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the team noted.
“Note that all rewards generated by proof of coverage activity in the previous 24 hours will be available for claim to your Helium Wallet after the transition period. Oracles will update claimable balances and hotspot owners will be able to use the new complaints function.
HNT and MOBILE token holders will not have to do anything to participate in the upgrade. The same is true for the majority of hotspot owners, although owners of larger fleets can test specific claim features or develop custom wallet solutions.
The move to Solana was community-enabled passing HIP-70 with over 80% approval on September 22.
