Altair will be activated on October 27, 2021
According to the official blog post by Mr. Ryan, the upgrade of the Altair signal chain (initial stage ETH2) will begin live on the mainnet at 74240 epoch. This epoch is expected to come at 10:56 AM UTC on October 27, 2021.
Altair Mainnet launches at 74240 Era (October 27, 2021, 10:56:23AM UTC)!

Now, on to merge 🚀

To keep their nodes in sync with the post-Altair consensus, nodes operators must upgrade their clients. Programs are created for all customers – Lighthouse, Lodestar, Prysm, Nimbus and Teku – available via the links in the ad.
As with Ethereum Hardworks 1.0, end users, ETH holders, contracts, and the state of the Proof of Work network are not affected by the updates.
Altair’s Ethereum 2.0 upgrade is designed to enhance the economic logic of network validation and provide “light client” support for core consensus.
“Onward to Consolidation”
EF launched a massive bug bounty campaign to ensure the security and performance of the post-Altair network. Before November 27, 2021, Ethereum fans can detect bugs and get up to $100,000 in rewards.
As such, the Ethereum 2.0 network is one step closer to the ETH1-ETH2 transition. At the time of publication, more than 7.8 million Ethers have been locked into an ETH2 deposit contract.
Amid the recent surge in cryptocurrency capitalization, this amount exceeds the equivalent of $27 billion. To provide context, the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract is “capitalised” above Yandex, Kia, Deutsche Bank, Panasonic and Societe Generale.
