Torstone Technology Appoints Sam Farrell as Head of North America to Expand Business in US and Canada
Torstone Technology, a leading SaaS platform for post-trade securities and derivatives processing, has hired Sam Farrell as Head of North America. With its base of operations in Toronto, Farrell will oversee all of Torstone’s US and Canadian operations, strengthening the company’s presence in North America and solidifying its position as a leading supplier in the US and Canadian markets.
Thomas Friesleben becomes Managing Director of StoneX Pro EMEA
StoneX Group has appointed Thomas Friesleben as Managing Director to lead the growth of its StoneX Pro division in EMEA. He is based in Germany and will report to the group’s Global Head of Institutional FX, Eric Donovan.
Robinhood CEO retires
Gretchen Howard, who became COO of Robinhood Markets in 2019, has decided to retire from the company at the end of 2023. She will step down as COO at the end of March and assume an advisory role until his retirement.
Bloomberg promotes Sophia Barnes
Bloomberg promoted Sophia Barnes to Global Marketing Manager from APAC Marketing Manager, a position she took over in October 2020. Prior to Bloomberg, she spent eight years at Multibank Group, a leading FX/CFD broker, where she joined as Senior Project Manager and later promoted to Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
Exness appoints new CEO
Cyprus-based FX/CFD broker Exness has appointed Elena Krutova as administrative director. Previously, she was director of human resources at the brokerage and spent the last five years there. In the new role, she will oversee people, finance, legal and compliance, as well as corporate operations for the broker.
Scope Markets Eyes MENA, Hires Equiti VP as Regional Sales Director
Scope Markets has recruited Yaser Zidan as Director of Sales for the Middle East and North Africa. This news comes three months after the broker assessed expansion opportunities in the MENA region and Asia.
Zidan announced his new appointment at Scope Markets in an update to his LinkedIn profile on Tuesday. The executive left for Scope Markets after around seven years at Equiti, which he joined in August 2016 as a senior account manager. Zidan doubled as vice president of sales at Equiti in Jordan from May 2018 until his departure.

Binance VP Joins New Zealand FMA as Executive Director
On Monday, the New Zealand Securities and Markets Authority announced that Daniel Trinder had been selected as executive director of strategy and design and would join the company’s management team.
Trinder brings more than two decades of professional experience, which he has accumulated at Her Majesty’s Treasury and the International Monetary Fund, among others, as well as major investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered.
