From 10 meetings, BitGeneration seeks to bring Bitcoin training and education to Italian students.
BitPolitoa group of students from the University Politecnico di Torino who seeks to address bitcoin training, research and development in Italy, has announced “BitGeneration”, a project that aims to bring bitcoin education to Italian high schools.
According to the press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine, the university will host 10 three-hour meetings for 30 third-, fourth-, and fifth-year students from a local high school.
“Experts and teachers had already spoken about Bitcoin in the past to some classes through small independent initiatives,” the statement describes, “but BitGeneration has a completely different tenor. For the first time, an (Italian) public school welcomes formally the Bitcoin training: the 30 hours are part of what is called Pcto (which in Italian means Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation), a course of 300 hours of compulsory work over a period of three years for all students Across the country.
Lessons taught cover various aspects of Bitcoin, from financial inclusion, economics and societal structures to computer science and game theory. There are also hands-on lessons focused on how easy Bitcoin is to use. Topics include “creating a seed phrase and wallet, downloading and managing a full node, analyzing and mining the time chain (with a real Antminer S9 ASIC provided by BitPolito ).”
Among the speakers involved in this initiative are some of the most well-known names in the Italian Bitcoin sphere, such as Giacomo Zucco, Riccardo Giorgio Frega, Alekos Filini, Daniela Brozzoni and Riccardo Masutti.
Giacomo Zuco, who gave the first lecture on January 31, said, “The teachers were enthusiastic. When they asked me some questions after the lecture, about a third of the students gathered to listen. I found some bright faces despite the three hour lecture.
Nicolò Terranova, a member of the group and one of the main leaders of the initiative, explained his plans for expansion, saying, “We would like to expand the project in the future. In the next edition, we will make a documentary that will tell the story of student education, from the students’ point of view. We hope that other schools will take the initiative as an example, we are ready to help.
According to the press release, the 10 lessons will be published on BitPolito’s Youtube channel so that everyone can watch the course for free.
