The Miss Universe 2023 pageant had several standout moments during its national costume contest today.
But for the cryptocurrency industry, it came when Alejandra Guajardo from El Salvador jumped on stage in a Bitcoin costume.
BTC on the Miss Universe Stage
The 27-year-old actress and model showcased the evolution of her country’s currency through a dress she wore to the Miss Universe pageant. She took the stage in a golden bitcoin outfit, holding a scepter with a BTC logo.
In a striking resemblance to the BTC logo, his outfit had three prominent colors – gold, silver and bronze. Guajardo sported a large model coin on the back, with the name of his country engraved on it.
Guajardo’s bitcoin outfit quickly became the speaking point in the cryptosphere. It was designed by Salvadoran artist and fashion designer Francisco Guerrero. According to him, the dress depicts the evolution of currency in his country – from cocoa to colon, US dollar and BTC.
The final of the ongoing 71st Miss Universe pageant, which is being held in New Orleans, Louisiana, is scheduled for January 14.

Earlier, in a statement asking for her fans’ support in her campaign for the Miss Universe title, she said, “Transformational leadership is when you work in harmony with others with similar goals for the future. improvement of all others.”
In her profile, the official Miss Universe website said“Alejandra Guajardo seizes every opportunity that is close to her heart. El Salvador’s BTC strategy
Guajardo wearing a bitcoin dress at the Miss Universe event today coincides with her country’s legislature passing legislation authorizing the issuance of bitcoin sovereign bonds.
Recently, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele slammed the mainstream media for attacking his campaign to buy more bitcoin, also through the upcoming Volcano Bond. Continuing the bitcoin strategy, the Bukele government launched a national bitcoin office in November to coordinate various bitcoin and cryptocurrency-related initiatives both in the country and around the world.
The country has also moved to buy a bitcoin every day to take advantage of the decline, as BTC is down almost 65% since its all-time high in November 2021.
