The battle for pro wrestling dominance between All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has spilled over into the Web3 arena as AEW decided to enter the NFT space with the launch of their “AEW Sensations” digital collectibles.
The move comes despite declining engagement and interest in WWE. Moonsault The NFT series, which has already launched on the Content Fabric block chain with important hype but now appears to have been discontinued by the company. Variety reported that NFTs could be worth hundreds of thousands.
“The NFT Flips will be sold on WWE Moonsault in ‘cases’ of three, randomized to the strike, for $30 per case, which means the sale could generate over $100,000.”
However, the subtotal market the volume of WWE Moonsault NFTs is only $93,719.16, with an average price of $14.61, a far cry from the hundreds of thousands they were supposed to rake in.
Upper Deck has announced the exclusive deal with AEW to bring “AEW Sensations” to their new online platform, Evolution. According to Press releasethe limited-edition “AEW Sensations” product features the three best moments from the previous week’s live TV shows from “AEW: Dynamite” and “AEW: Rampage.”
THE Numbers surrounding WWE’s Moonsault NFT series reveals a stark contrast. by CryptoSlate review of multiple WWE Moonsault NFT contracts shows that as of May 2023, latest transfers ranged from 7 days ago to 2 months ago, averaging less than one transfer per week across the collections reviewed.
Additionally, the entire Content Fabric blockchain averaged only 22 daily transactions, with most blocks produced on the blockchain having only one transaction included. WWE’s last NFT drop was in November 2022, with the Survivor Series War Games NFT series.
Despite the diminishing commitment to WWE’s Moonsault NFT Series, AEW remains optimistic about its partnership with Upper Deck. Mark Caplan, Vice President of Licensing and Games at AEW, said:

Eluvio Blockchain Technology, which powers WWE’s NFT ecosystem on the Content Fabric Network, has also been involved with Fox Entertainment and Blockchain Creative Labs. As reported per Sports Video, they had announced an exclusive multi-year deal to launch an NFT marketplace for licensed WWE digital tokens and collectibles.
AEW’s entry into the NFT space introduces another layer of competition between AEW and WWE.
